Refinery Plans

The Badagry Port offers an opportunity to build a new refined products import terminal that would enable it to revolutionise petroleum product receipt in the West African Region.

The facility will charge a tariff and deliver savings to importers in the middle to long term relative to the current regulated cost template and anticipated cost to receive in an unregulated environment. The facility will provide 210-300 kMT of white product storage, (largely dedicated to gasoline). The option to add 10 kMT of LPG storage at a later date will be made available.

The Badagry Advantage

The site is located just outside metropolitan Lagos along the Benin- Lagos expressway which is currently being upgraded from a 4-lane to a 10- lane highway. When completed, the new road will offer superior connectivity to all of Nigeria’s Western and Northern states and ensure the port becomes the lasting replacement for congested metro-Lagos area ports going forward. Long-term plans include linking the Port and Free Zone to the hinterland by barge and rail. In fact the Lagos State Government, through LAMATA, is developing an extensive urban rail system for Lagos. The first two lines being developed are the Red Line and the Blue Line. The Blue Line will run 27km from Okokomaiko to Marina, one of the most densely traveled corridors in Lagos. The Blue Line will run on an exclusive 15 meters right of way in the middle of the expressway.
