West Atlantic Shipyard Limited (WAS), is a joint venture between Piriou & Orlean Invest, operating in the Onne Oil & Gas Free Zone, Nigeria, and engaged in shipbuilding, ship repair marine engineering and Offshore Fabrication and support.


Over Naira 60 million being spent on training between 2010 – 2013, with employees graduating from the training centre and entering full time employment with the company. Presently the company employs 200 people, contributing heavily to the creation of skilled jobs in the heart of the Niger Delta region.



  • WAS has 60,000 m² of secure storage;
  • A 290m quay supplied with water and electricity, and dredged to 6.5m LWL;+ two(2)Floating Docks.
  • Four workshops with overhead cranes spread over 6,000m2;
  • A 2,000 tonne railway for the launching of new ships and to accommodate heavy units in maintenance;


WAS specialises and builds for the offshore industry, aluminium and steel vessels up to 110m in length. 48 boats have been built since 2005 and over 1000 boats repaired since 2008. Today WAS is the leading ship repair yard in the world.

WAS repairs all types of vessels and has become a major support shipyard is self-sufficient in terms of electrical energy and freshwater; and implements a waste management policy in compliance with Nigerian and International requirement for the offshore fleet in West Africa.
